Tailor-made private tours of Sri Lanka

See Sri Lanka as a relaxed guest, not the project manager of your own holiday.

We plan custom, hassle-free holidays across the island for international visitors — a private air-conditioned vehicle, a dedicated chauffeur-guide, boutique hotels chosen for the route, and an itinerary built entirely around what you actually want to see.

100% complimentary, with zero obligation. A local planner replies personally.

Signature journeys

The two trips our guests ask for most

Everything we plan is tailor-made, but most journeys start from one of these two shapes: a classic private loop of the island, or a bespoke trip designed for two.

Most booked · 7 to 14 days

The Classic Island Highlights round-island tour

Our most requested private tour. A classic loop of Sri Lanka taking in the ancient cities of the Cultural Triangle, the tea estates and cool air of the hill country, a national park safari, and time on the southern coast — all travelled privately, at your own pace, with the same chauffeur-guide from arrival to departure.

$950–$1,400 per person, double occupancy Average for a 7–8 day Classic Island Highlights itinerary. Includes 3–4 star boutique hotels, daily breakfast and dinner, a private air-conditioned vehicle with a dedicated chauffeur-guide, and entry permits to the key heritage sites on your route.

Bespoke · Luxury & honeymoon

Luxury bespoke & boutique honeymoon journeys

Tailor-made honeymoon packages and bespoke luxury itineraries, designed one couple at a time. Boutique retreats and quieter corners of the coast, helicopter sightseeing between regions, high tea on a working tea estate, and a pace that leaves room to do nothing at all.

Quoted individually Every bespoke journey is priced to the itinerary, with the same all-inclusive, transparent quote. Send us your dates and the kind of stay you have in mind.

Tours by travel style

Start with the kind of trip you want

Every itinerary is written from scratch. These are the starting points we build from — pick the one closest to your plans and we will shape the rest around it.

Our strictest policy

The Zero Commission-Shop Guarantee

A lot of Sri Lanka itineraries quietly include stops nobody asked for — a gem mine, a batik factory, a spice garden — because the driver earns a commission for bringing you there. We removed the reason it happens.

Your guide is paid properly, by us

Our chauffeur-guides earn a premium, fair wage paid directly by Pearl Island Tours. What they earn never depends on where they take you.

No detour you didn't ask for

No gem mine, batik factory or spice garden appears on your route unless you specifically ask to visit one. If you want to go, we will happily arrange it.

Your time stays yours

Because our revenue is completely detached from driver kickbacks, the itinerary and the hours in your day remain 100% yours.

This is a strict, enforceable policy rather than a good intention. If it is ever broken on your trip, message your planner on the 24/7 WhatsApp line and we will deal with it that day.

Our promises

Four things we commit to before you pay anything

Sending a deposit to a company on the other side of the world is the hardest part of booking a trip like this. These four promises are written into every quote we send.

Not ready to book? Start with the free consultation. There is no deposit, no form to fill in and no obligation at the end of it.

Destinations

Across the island, region by region

Sri Lanka is small enough to cross in a day and varied enough to fill a fortnight. These are the regions we build itineraries around.

Guest reviews

In our guests' own words

Most of our guests find us through a review or a recommendation from someone they trust. These are unedited.

Hi guys, just wanted to say a massive thank you for sorting our trip. the van was super comfy and our driver was a legend!! didn't take us to any of those weird gem shops either which we really appreciated. thanks again!

Thank you for the itinerary planning. Being our first time in Sri Lanka, we were nervous about the driving distances, but your timeline was spot on. The boutique hotel you recommended in Ella had the most amazing view. Will definitely recommend Pearl Island Tours to my sister who is visiting next year.

A real trip story

The trip we rearranged before it even started

Before one family had even landed, it was clear their route wasn't going to work the way it had been booked. So we contacted the first two hotels on their itinerary, negotiated a shift in the booking dates without a penalty, and moved the Sigiriya rock climb to the following afternoon — cooler, and far less crowded.

Their chauffeur was waiting at the airport at 2:00 AM with cold towels and water. They arrived to a plan that already fitted, rather than one they would have had to fix themselves on holiday.

Before you book

The questions we are asked most

These five come up in almost every conversation. If yours isn't here, ask it on WhatsApp and a planner will answer it directly — no form, no obligation.

Your quote is all-inclusive and itemised, with no hidden service charges and nothing added later. When your planner sends the itinerary, every cost that is covered is listed in full, so you can see exactly what is and isn't included before you decide anything.

If a line on that list isn't clear, ask on WhatsApp and you will get a direct answer, in writing, before you pay a deposit.

Entry permits to the key heritage sites on your route are included in the per-person price of our classic island itineraries — that covers the headline sites such as Sigiriya Rock and the Temple of the Tooth.

Because every trip is tailor-made, the exact list depends on the sites and activities you choose, so your written itinerary names each included permit individually. Anything that is paid locally, such as an optional jeep safari added on the day, is flagged to you up front rather than discovered at the gate.

The Kandy to Ella scenic train is one of the experiences we build into itineraries, and your planner arranges the leg as part of your trip — your chauffeur-guide meets you with the vehicle at the other end, so your luggage travels with the car and you travel light.

Seats on that route are limited, so it is worth raising it early while your dates are still flexible. Ask your planner on WhatsApp to confirm exactly how seating works for your travel dates.

Our flexible booking policy covers both. Date adjustments are free, and deposits are refunded in full for cancellations made up to 21 days before arrival — so a cancellation a month out is fully refundable.

If a flight is delayed on the day, message the 24/7 WhatsApp line. Your chauffeur-guide and your planner will rework the first day around your new arrival time, and your airport pick-up moves with it.

Your tour is settled with us directly, so the cash you carry is only ever for personal spending — daily lunches, tipping and anything you pick up along the way.

Your planner will talk you through what is worth bringing with you and what is easier to change once you arrive, based on your route and how long you are staying. Ask on WhatsApp before you fly and we will go through it with you.
